19/12 Prokop kidnapped by UFO. Again!

ProkopRider.net press release
It was back in the end of Prokop’s year 2006 when Extra-Terrestrial spaceship full of amazing stuff landed in the Schladming airbase to pick-up the very best fourcross rider available here on the globe. None men in black were there ready for action, so aliens had quite time to make Prokop an offer he couldn’t refuse. Deal was done and last two years Michal Prokop was working hard for those ETs based in Italy. Using UFO products, Prokop the almost alien, was taking another inter-galactic winnings day by day. He even brought that UFO trade mark to the most prestigious sports event here, the Olympic Games in Beijing!

Those aliens keep their word and they worked hard to incorporate various new cool Prokop signature products into their space product line. Now, the UFO technology is available also for you, terrestrials! How about Prokop Air Knee-Shin Guards to protect your vulnerable body?! Put Prokop Bandage over the guards to get unbeatable combo.

The Olympic season is over. Prokop is going back to the fourcross racing to catch third rainbow jersey and third World Cup title captured in the meantime by speedy Spanish fly. Also that Yeti kangaroo appears to have a fancy for some gold. And there are many others… Well, Prokop needs some serious help and his friends are back…

Prokop was kidnapped by UFO. Again! Just heard at UFO headquarters… they will keep Mr. Prokop for another two years!!!

NASA spokesman told us nothing more than “no comment”… but then he continued… “All I can do for you is to provide you with a translation of just recorded and decrypted message coming from somewhere in cosmos…”

Mr. Simone Consoloni, director of UFO Plast MTB and BMX departments:

“We are happy to announce that Michal Prokop: two times Fourcross World Champion, two times Fourcross World Cup Winner and runner-up in the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, chooses UFO Plast to be his partner for race wear and body protectors for another two years! This cooperation is definitely great success for all of us. It is undoubtedly one of the main achievements for UFO Plast, and we expect this signing to really help us. Michal is one of the strongest, fastest, smoothest and highly motivated guys both on gravity mountain bike or the BMX scene – a real Pro rider. Our cooperation won’t be just about product and financial support. We will develop and test together new ranges of pants, shorts, gloves and body protection. Michal, being so focused on all the smallest details of his equipment is the perfect partner for this”.

We were lucky enough to locate Michal Prokop at his top secret training facility in the Russian Baikonur Cosmodrome. He said…

”To continue being an ambassador of such a great group of friends that I found in UFO Plast, it makes me really proud and satisfied. I am bit of a fanatic when choosing my race wear and all I can say after two years of riding UFO gear is just… go ahead to pick some UFO stuff! It all looks sweet as well as it works. You will see me riding new Lightning shorts combined with Prokop Air Knee-Shin guards at fourcross World Cups and brand new made in Italy Wanted pants when BMX comes to my schedule. UFO Airbase are the gloves of my choice. Black & white, that’s my style for 2009. Hopefully, the rest of the field will exclusively see the
only alien on my back, while aliens can get many opportunities to smile from the top of podium…”

About UFO Plast
It all started in 1977 when Vito Consoloni, a young energetic workman full of great resolutions cherishing a secret dream, decided to set up his own business, thus establishing UFO Plast together with two more people. He was not short of desire to work or wish to encounter obstacles; first of all he was motivated by his great passion for sport, which even before activated his mind. Inside the 120-square-metre garage, this hothouse of dreams soon began to yield fruit to end up with substantial profits, official recognition of its high quality products and several motocross and enduro victories. However, even he would have never been able to imagine that his modest company only with three employees could become one day the greatest world reality in the market with accessories for all-terrain vehicles. UFO Plast assumed the first position in production of plastics for motorcycles, protective elements, and sportswear in the third millennium. Nowadays, the company still retains the industrial philosophy which inspired its founders 30 years ago, but it applies these same principles to new contents and products. The headquarters now spread over surface of 8.000 square meters and are characterized by a modern and eye-catching architectural design, while the futuristic technological features make it possible to deal with orders in real time. Five warehouses, two product shops, a solid sector of research and development, and eighty employees allow UFO Plast to produce its 3,000 products, which they supply every year to thousands of sale places located in the entire world. Searching for shapes, selection of materials and diligence focused on quality represent three conditions thanks to which UFO Plast trademark managed to break through during the time with permanently growing success.

And at the end – sport – the final goal, the fulfillment of which is substantiated by many titles achieved in world championships in motocross and enduro – dreamt-off important winnings, behind which there is the soul of UFO Plast trademark, the first real supporter of this beautiful sport.

About Michal Prokop
Czech fourcross and BMX pro rider Michal Prokop managed to step out of shadow of sports giants even before the flames went up over the Beijing. With his two World Champion rainbow jerseys, two World Cup titles and 10 World Cup wins in his pocket, Michal Prokop for sure already belongs to prestigious club of real heroes of gravity mountain biking history. The life on pedals is his hobby and livelihood as well. The King of the Czech cycling of 2006 and the Author factory rider acquired all titles on his mountain bike and he even defended them again.

Michal brought himself to the attention of sports public particularly thanks to his dominant position in mountain bike fourcross. This guy belongs among the very few exceptional sportsmen, in the case of whom the one of us may afford to consider any other placing except win in the top world competition as something surprising. Unlike most of his other competitors MP devotes himself equally to two related, but still different disciplines! Moreover, in 2006, just a few months after his severe injury, Prokop initiated the Czech national team of the track world championship on oval…

GT supporting the ABD BSX
GT Bicycles have been big supporters of the BSX, right from the first event in 2006. Their support was supplied in various ways, from bidding the most amount of money in the history of the event ($200) for a BSX number plate at auction to drumming up riders to help us put on a great show and raise money for the Royal Children’s hospital. 2009 will mark the first year that they will be an official sponsor of the event. The GT riders have dominated the event with Olympic hero, Luke Madill, taking the win in the pro open class for the first two years and Simon Anderson winning in 2007 and 2008 in the 30 & Over men’s class, if he wins in 2009 he will be the first person ever competitor to win three in a row.

Fox supporting the ABD BSX again
Fox have been a supporter of BSX since 2007, donating product for the very popular raffles, auctions and so on. They are back with a whole lot more in 2009. Look out for the Fox Rampage Helmet (gloss Black with gold trim) at the Auction in 2009, it’s going to be very popular if the helmet they supplied to BSX2008 was anything to go by. Thanks to Fox and Monza for the ongoing support.

CVP (Chris Van Winden Paint-jobs) supporting the ABD BSX
Chris Van Winden has spent many hours helping us maintain and reshape the BSX track and he’s competed at BSX himself finishing fourth in 2008 in the 30 & Over class. He’s making a donation for 2009 that will make him a very popular man. Chris is a professional spray painter who has been painting bike frames, his donation is a paint job for a BMX frame to the value of $200.

NBL press release
The historic City of Lexington, Virginia is bracing itself for a busy holiday season this year.   More than 2,000 BMXer’s will be racing their way into the Virginia Horse Center for the annual NBL BMX Christmas Classic and President’s Cup. This year’s event includes two National Race events where the top National amateurs will be competing head-to-head for points and awards.  Many of the current National Champions will be attending to defend their titles and vie for exciting awards and prizes.

The three-day long Christmas event will take place at the Virginia Horse Center from December 27-29, 2008 and kicks off on Saturday, December 27th with the 24th Annual President’s Cup – The state-vs-state competition, where Michigan will try to defend their 2007 title against top-ranked Florida, Illinois, Ohio and more than 20 other competitive states. The event is open to all rookie, novice, expert, girl, cruiser, and pro NBL riders who have earned a state ranking of #1-#15 within their state. Special Silver Cups will be awarded to all riders who make their respected main events. And speaking of Presidents, Ken Masters, who was recently named as the new NBL President, previously served as the Michigan State Commissioner and is excited to be a part of this great race. “It’s a one-of-a-kind event and it always adds a new level of comradery and friendly competition between the states.  It’s my favorite race of the year and we are looking forward to our new venue in Lexington this year,” said Masters.

This will serve as Master’s first President’s Cup, taking over the reins from Bob Tedesco.  Ken will attend the ‘Classic’ and have to gracefully watch his home state defend the President’s Cup title against a tough field.  The race will be Bob Tedesco’s last race as Managing Director of the NBL and the change in leadership promises to inject new energy into the 35-year old league.  “We are looking forward to a great Christmas with everyone and we’re excited about our plans for 2009 and beyond.  With several new programs and plans in the works, we will continue to the tradition of hosting the best races and offering a wide variety of programs for all of our members,” said an enthusiastic Masters.  “It is a true honor to follow in the footsteps of one of America’s legendary BMX founders, Mr. Bob Tedesco, he nostalgically adds.

The showcase event, the NBL Christmas Classic, takes the stage on Sunday, December 28th and Monday, December 29th and features full-blown National amateur racing. Riders, both male and female, from the age of four all the way up to 65 will be competing for valuable National series points and spectacular trophies and awards.  As an extra Christmas bonus, UGP (Underground Products) will award prizes to the winners of the Open classes both days as part of the ’09 UGP Open Championship Series.

Check out all of the high-flyin’ BMX racing action at the Virginia Horse Center and watch the newest Olympic sport. Local attractions include the Historic Bridge, Stonewall Jackson House, Hunter’s Raid Civil War Trail and the quirky Foamhenge.  Visit their local website for more details at www.lexingtonvirginia.com. 13/12 ABA BMX 2008 Grand Nationals, “One For The Record Books!”

ABA press release

The 2008 ABA BMX Grand Nationals will be always be remembered as a true celebration of the career of Clayton John, and at the center of it all, the most extreme indoor BMX track ever constructed.  As Clayton celebrated his last year as ABA’s President, he was given his dream car, a 1934 Ford, which was presented to him by Bernie Anderson during the Friday Night Pro-Spectacular.  The riders were treated to a track that was built by ABA Master Track Builder, Billy Allen, using more than 6200 cubic yards of dirt, the most ever for an indoor track.  The track featured an enormous starting hill, a spectacular AA-Pro berm jump and three split straights.

Billed as the “Greatest Race on Earth”, the racing absolutely lived up the hype.  The first thing to draw attention, other than the amazing track, was the moto count.  The Grands attracted 490 motos full of the best riders from around the World.  This year’s moto count far exceeded 2007 and is validation of the hard work of the ABA and ABA Track Operators.  A total of 45 States and 13 countries were represented at this year’s Grand Nationals.

About Michal Prokop:

The short straights, lofty jumps and tight corners are very intense under race conditions but also fun for competitors and create quite a lot of entertainment for spectators. The event provides a unique experience for the local Victorian riders, as well as the interstate and international visitors during an off day of the Track Attack series. Funds have been raised through gate takings, raffles, auctions and donations.

11/12 The New Apple Valley BMX Track

by bmxultra.com
The old Horseheads BMX track has been going through a massive transformation since Bill Ryan of Supercross BMX took over the reigns. Bill teamed up with Kris Fox and Mikey Brabandt to design the track (complete with pro section) and master track builder Billy Allen is making it all a reality driving the heavy equipment. The Apple Valley BMX Moto Park, as it’s now known, is still under construction, but the way things are going it won’t be long before they’ll be racing there. The track will be ABA sanctioned, which means only ABA licenced riders will be able to use the facilities, this is something they are trying to obtain insurance for to add dirt jumps and make it available to the general public. The track has it’s own website at www.applevalleybmx.com where you can see the design and keep track of construction progress as it happens each day, complete with photos. Even before completion the track is making local news.

04/12 bmxultra.com team update

bmxultra.com press release
The Victorian Open State Championships was the biggest gathering of the bmxultra.com/One Bicycles team for 2008 with eight of the ten team members in attendance. With numbers like that it was difficult to miss the bmxultra.com/One Bicycles team jersey.

Shane Jenkins competed at his 26th consecutive Victorian State Championships on the weekend. After a big year of injury Jenkins seems to be on the mend collecting a third in the 35-39 mens class and after getting tangled up in the first straight in the final a sixth in the 35-39 mens cruiser.

Jamie Bullows edged out team mate Jenkins to take second in both the 35-39 mens class and the 35-39 cruiser class. Not a bad effort for a guy expecting the arrival of a new baby at any minute over the weekend.

Brandan Bullows was riding well all weekend, it was a crash that lead to him missing out on the A pro semi by the skin of his teeth. He was looking to make up for that in the 15 boys class but after mistiming the gate and playing catch up for most of the race he had to settle for fourth, not a bad ride considering.

Levi Collins has only returned to BMX racing for a short time after focusing on motocross for a couple of seasons. He’s showing improvements, finishing with a second in the Pro cruiser class. Levi just missed out on the AA Pro mens semi but was happy with his results.

Chase Collins was struggling with the gate all weekend but he didn’t let that bother him. After a clean sweep of his qualifying motos Chase was elbow to elbow battling it out for the #1 spot in the 18 mens class but was just edged out on the line and had to settle for second. He also made it through to the A Pro main but went down early in the race and finished up with eighth. When this guy works out his gates he will be unbeatable.

Scooby Guyers was battling it out with the big guns in the pro cruiser class all weekend and managed a respectable third place he also qualified for the A Pro main and although off to a slow start moved up the field to take fifth.

Mark Dobson is the newest member of the team and has only been in the bmxultra.com/One jersey a few times, each time making an impact on his class. The Victorian State Championships were no different. Mark ended up with fifth place in the tough 40-44 cruiser class.

Adam Carey has been spending time in NSW racing against some extremely tough and experienced competition and it paid off getting him into probably his biggest AA Pro main so far, when the gate dropped Adam went a little late as was left chasing, he went on to finish with seventh.

bmxultra.com/One Bicycles team at the Victorian State Championships
Team bmxultra.com/One Bicycles (Left – Right) Brandan Bullows, Levi Collins, Scooby Guyers, Mark Dobson, Jamie Bullows, Chase Collins, Adam Carey and Shane Jenkins

It was a great effort by all team members as the team prepares for a big year of racing in 2009.

One behalf of the team I would like to thank our sponsors for their support through 2008.

03/12 Morphine Industries – NBL Morristown/ABA Grands Reports

Morphine Industries press release
Morphine Industries’ Factory Team Posts First and Second at NBL Thanksgiving Classic
Morphine Industries took part of the factory team to Morristown this past weekend to throw down some rubber at the Great Smoky Mtn. Expo Center.

The track was tight and fast as expected in Morristown which proved to be a great venue for the team.  When the dust settled the team racked up a first place finish on Saturday and a second place finish on Sunday.

Super X, Tyler Faoro, spent all weekend battling from lane 7 and 8, racking up holeshots. On Saturday he got submarined in the last turn going down to finish with a 7th in the main.  Sunday, he got tangled up in the first and second turn to settle for a 7th.

Doran “Sure Thing” Bradshaw (30–34 Cr) did what he does, WIN, racking up 1st both days. Richie Dey (9X) swept his motos and main with 1st  on Saturday and a 2nd on Sunday.

Jonathan Reeves got back on the track after a 5 month recovery and took 4th in the main on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday.

In the stacked 11X, Noah Reeves made it through semis to finish 3rd on Saturday and 5th on Sunday.

Talbott Cross rode hard coming up shy in both days missing the main in one of the toughest classes in racing 17-18X.

Morphine Industries’ Factory Team Race Report – ABA Grands
Morphine Industries had three riders at the greatest show on earth – the ABA Grands this past weekend.

The weekend start with the ROC and The Pro Spectacular racing on Friday.  A Pro rider, Gavin Lubbe, started his run for the weekend with an impressive 2nd in the main.

Unfortunately, fellow A Pro rider, Jason LaRev went down in his second moto and suffered possible broken wrist and ribs.  Shout out to Jason for a quick recovery.  Go big or go home.

Travis “Woody” Woodruff layed it down just missing the main in the stacked 44 rider strong 17-18X class.

With the ROC behind, Saturday started the real action.  Gavin Lubbe, once again tore up the track and made it through the 57 rider, A Pro class to take a 3rd place in the main event.

With the 17-18X class growing to 65 riders, Travis “Woody” Woodruff rode hard but came up short of the main on Sunday.

Great job Guys at the toughest event in BMX.

The Morphine Industries Factory Team is looking forward to the 2009 ABA season and will be fielding a complete team focusing on the Grands.

Morphine Industries would like to thank its Factory Team Sponsors; Staats Motocross Bicycles (www.staatsbikes.com), Alienation (www.alienationbmx.com), Fly Racing (www.flyracingbmx.com), Lost Energy Drink (www.lostenterprises.com), Sinz Racing (www.sinz-racing.com), Rennen (www.rennendesigngroup.com)

Kyle Horton has fully recovered from his surgery earlier this year and had a great meeting taking a convincing win the the pro cruiser class and making it into a tough AA Pro field and coming home with a respectable sixth place. The way Kyle has improved over the past 18 months you should expect to see a lot more of him in the AA ranks.

Chris Van Winden was supporting Movember, like many of the older riders over the weekend, he didn’t let it slow him down on his way to two more titles. Chris finished with a fourth in the 30-34 men and sixth in the 30-34 cruiser class.

Issy Penglase returned to the track where she broke her arm earlier in the year to finish a strong third place in the 10 girls class.

The Rose tribe (by Miekel Rose)

We arrived in Wodonga on Friday for our first Victorian BMX Titles under wet and miserable conditions. This was a little reminiscent of the recent NSW Titles and the thought of cleaning 7 bikes over the next two weeks did not seem appealing at all. The practice session was called off due to the wet conditions so we signed on and went home to prepare for another wet State Titles for 08. Friday night the heavens opened and I expected to wake to a shocker of a day and I was surprised to see blue skies and sunshine.

We hit the track early with Mikayla riding the first race of the day as an 8 girl. She had not raced any of the girls in her motos in the past and we were keen to see how she faired. She had a bad gate and raced hard for a close win in her first race. Over the day she continued to win and left the day on top of the score board in her class. This was her first attempt at cruiser and was racing the 8 to 10 girls cruiser class. She came out of the first race with a second to the 1V rider from 07 in Kiarra Taylor. Every race after that she won and was looking good for a place in the final. Day two she came out and won on both bikes. She had a 6th moto on her 20″ and nailed another win to take 1V in the 8 girls. She then had her cruiser final and came out chasing Kiarra hard. It was a close race with Kiarra winning and Mikayla getting 2V in 8 to 10 girls cruiser. A great weekend for her and ONE Bicycles Australia.

Nikalus was racing in the 10 boys 20″ and 8 to 10 cruiser. Nik was winning most of his heats on both bikes and at the end of day one was sitting in third on both bikes. Nik was feeling comfortable with the track and looking forward to stepping up for the final day. On day two he came out winning his 20″ and cruiser heats and was sitting ready for his quarters on 20″. He drew Luke Skinner an old rival, whom he loves to race. As they were coming down the second straight, Luke had a small lead on Nik as they hit the triple. Luke chose for a smaller jump and manual off the jump and Nik decided to hit it up as he had done all weekend as the wind picked up and blew him off course causing him to have a massive crash knocking himself out. He was taken to First Aid where he had no idea where he was or what happened. He was placed in traction and taken to Albury hospital, where we spent three hours, whilst they did some tests on him and eventually cleared him, so we could go and watch his little sister take a few plates at presentation. There is always next time! No plates and a new helmet needed. Not the weekend we planned for. But in the end he is OK and the helmet did what it was supposed to do and saved him more damage.

Josh started his weekend off well in 13 boys clocking up fourths and fifths and the same in 13 to 14 cruiser. He was liking the track and riding hard. Once again the triple in the second straight claimed another victim and he too, like his brother, came down very hard racing cruiser and was unable to continue for the remainder of the weekend. He has a huge bruise to the top of his left leg and was unable to walk let alone ride. He sat out the second day and supported his little brother and sister.

Not a good event for the boys, but that’s racing and when you are giving 110%, things like that happen. A fantastic effort by Mikayla and a good chance to see how she goes in other states against new riders. There is always another event and opportunity for the boys to show their skills on the fabulous ONE bikes.

All in all it was a good weekend for the team, and a great year. One behalf of the team riders I would like to thank the sponsors for their support for 2008 and look forward to a huge year in 2009.

How to buy One Bicycles products in Australia
If you would like to purchase a One Bicycles frame or accessories in Australia the best way to do so is to head down to your local bike store and place an order. If they don’t know what you are talking about tell them to call Elite Cycle Imports while you wait and place your order there and then. After doing some calculations myself I have found the cheapest way to get One Bicycles products in Australia is through a local reseller.
