30/11 Supercross ABA’s Bike of the Year
Supercross BMX Australia press release
At the ABA Grand Nationals on the weeked Supercross won the Golden Crank Award for the Bike of the Year!
There is no doubt that the Supercross ENVY frame has been one of the most sought after race frames in BMX over the past couple of years. It’s the lightest production race frame ever made, the true F1 of BMX frames.
But wait…there’s more…
Supercross has two other frames on offer.
The Supercross BLUR is the newest to the Supercross stables. An alloy frame that shares the same race winning geometry and performance as the ENVY but at a more affordable price.
The cro-mo Supercross BOLT has been extremely popular here in Australia, especially amongst riders who demand more out of their race bike, be it the track, trails or the skate park. Again, it shares the same race winning geometry as the ENVY.
Exactly which frame won the Bike of the Year? As far as we are concerned any one of the three could have, but the winner is Supercross.
Congratulations to Bill Ryan and the crew at Supercross BMX and a massive thank you to all the Supercross owners out there.

29/11 Justin Beattie wins 3rd Victorian title
One Bicycles Australia press release
by Jim Beattie
There isn’t many races left on the race calender so we decided to make the trip to Shepparton Vic, for this years state titles. It’s been a big year for the 12yr old and since winning his third national title in Cairns Justin has added another NSW title to that and the ACT title he won in February. Shepparton is one of Justin’s favourate tracks and he was looking forward to a hit out against a quality field.
We arrived on Thursday and managed to get an hour or so of track time. This was enough to dial in most of the track which had been changed since the 2010 Aussies and was lucky because Friday practice turned out to be ridiculously hot and windy. Saturday saw rain and the cruisers run with Justins mate Jay (Ranga), who made the trip with the family, wrecking his weekend by taking himself out in practice.
Sunday started overcast on a damp but solid track. As the day progressed and the track dried out, Justin won through to his semi with out any fuss. Only ever really being pushed by fellow NSW rider Will Moran and Victorian Brock McDonald in the third moto. The semi final was a different matter.
In the semi Justin chose lane 2 , hit the gate and got pinched between Cooper Pozniak and Matt Krasevskis. This spat him out behind the pack and forced him to pull left behind Cooper and then pin the inside line. The huge headwind worked to his advantage and he was was able to smash through the wind and win the corner by bike lengths. A Jaw dropping move against a stacked heat.
In the final Justin came out of lane 1 and won the first corner with Will Moran coming up hard under Brock McDonald. Justin stayed smooth out in front for the win and Will and Brock battled it out with Will coming in 2nd.
Overall a great weekends racing and an opportunity for Justin to keep an eye on a class that is changing. The boys are hitting their teens and the obvious results are that some riders are dropping off and more importantly for him new contenders are emerging. The challenge for Justin is stay ahead of the curve and to keep winning.
The AA Men final was worth coming for alone, the weather held out and the well prepared track was a credit to the Shepparton Club.
Lastly on Justins Bike.
Justin has been riding for ONE Bicycles for the last couple of years. He rates his current frame the 2011 ONE ultimate pro his favourate and he can’t wait for the in coming 2012 frame.
His new SINZ I-HUB expert wheels have taken a beating on the very green Blue Mountains second straight and came through with flying colours. These wheels are super light and are a great choice for a larger young rider looking to move up to a super tough wheelset but not pick up weight. Justin is a 56kg 12 year old who hits up 10m jumps, Check them out dads.
Also Justin has been running a SNAP chain ring, stem and wheel tensioners. The finish on these parts is as good as it gets and this is the first time that I have found a sprocket that has completely run true. Their gear is under priced at the moment and is brought in by A-Team Distro. Pro shops at races are stocking the gear. Again dads check them out. Cheap ,Light and Bling.
Thanks to ONE Team manager Shane Jenkins, ECI and Scott Hand for their ongoing belief in the team and their generous support.

25/11 Supercross Australia at the Victorian State Championships
Supercross BMX Australia press release
We had two riders representing the Supercross BMX Australia factory team at the Victorian State Championships in Shepparton on the weekend. Brandan Bullows was finally free of injury and joined Max Cairns in the A Pro field.
Brandan Bullows was struggling a little with the gate, he made it through to the quarter finals but that’s where his titles ended.
Max Cairns has been one of the most consistant A Pro riders in Victoria over the past 12 months, and his track record at Shepparton is near perfect. Max strung together some great races, and when it came to the final he got the squeeze down the first straight. After looking like he was out of the running, Max clawed his way back into the pointy end of the field by the last corner and crossed the line in third.
It was a great effort for both team riders.

For all of you who supported "behind" the scenes, the event could not have been put on without you. Your Winners Too.
Update on Brett Herreen racing for Elite Racing Supplies at the 2011 Victorian State Titles.
Brett had an accident in the AA Pros third moto and has hurt his shoulder quite badly. Brett was unable to continue and has since had a few x rays and so forth back here in Adelaide. The news at this stage doesnt seem good and Brett maybe off the bike for a while and work too. Bad luck Brett and hope you recover soon.
The connection with Elite Racing Supplies and TNT Bicycles keeps getting stronger.
I just had a conversation with a person in the United States about TNT Bicycles and the all new TNT Peacemaker Pro Cassettes.
The story unfolds that he asked me if I was working on the next batch of hubs for the "new year release". I asked, him what he meant and he said "you make the peacemakers don’t you". I told… him that I was only an "Agent for TNT Bicyles" here in Australia and we both had a bit of a chuckle over it.
This goes to prove the connection with ELITE and TNT is very strong and the amount of promoting ELITE has done for TNT is working – Too Well.
So for all you BMX Racers out there who want the best hubsets on the market, from the most Legendary Hub Set maker in the history of BMX. You should only deal direct with ELITE RACING SUPPLIES

22/11 HRVfitness team at the Victorian Titles
HRVfitness press release
Wow what a fantastic weekend of racing, the weather wasn’t the greatest but the track was in great shape. HRVfitness had there three super stars out in force, including the newest addition AA rider Joel Clark.
Joel picked up all his new bits a pieces on wednesday so by sunday race time he was about 95% comfortable on new the bike. Joel looked great in his motos and managed to take out a few wins. But today wasn’t his day, after an awesome start in the semi final he had some trouble with the hurricane winds and missed out on making the main.
Brandon "The Freako" Te Hiko was on fire all day but bit off a little more than he could chew by racing two classes. Brandon looked great dominating 14 boys all day and winning his quarter final in A men, but when he had to race two semi finals in a row it was a little too much. The Freako missed out on making his first A pro final but made up for it by smashing the rest of the field in the 14 boys and taking home the win.
Jaden looked unstoppable all day and didn’t lose a race. Jaden took out his fourth #1 Victoria in a row and showed the rest of the class he is determine to win back his World #1 in 2012.
HRVfitness would like to thank their supporters: Speed, Skin Industries, THE, BMXpress, Altegra, Sinz, Phirebird

17/11 41 years of BMX
by bmxultra.com
After posting the Shane Jenkins milestone yesterday it jolted our memory that BMX turned 41 years old on November 14. We’re sorry we missed it.
You may remember that Scot Breithaupt organised a massive weekend of BMXing in California in celebration of the 40 years of BMX. It was proclaimed then that the birthday of BMX is officially November 14 1970.
When the next big celebrations will happen is anyone’s guess, but I think we’ll have a BBQ each year at the bmxultra.com compound as an annual bash.
16/11 bmxultra.com’s Shane Jenkins milestone
bmxultra.com press release
The bmxultra.com crew will head to Shepparton for the Victorian State Championships this weekend.
Shane Jenkins will be competing at his 29th consecutive Victorian State Championships event.
This is what he had to say about the milestone
"I didn’t think I was going to keep the run going, I had grand plans to hit the ABA Grand Nationals this year instead, but things didn’t go to plan. So, at this point, it’s looking good for 30 years at Knox next year. We’ll have to wait and see.
I feel very lucky to have been able to compete at so many title events over the years and I am very grateful for the support from my family and friends.
The sport has taught me many life lessons, one of the most important lessons is that there’s always another race. Also, BMX has taught me that if you want something you have to work hard for it, you can apply that to more than just sport.
Over the years I have seen the highs and lows of the sport and have seen many people come and go. Some of my best friends are people I have met through BMX racing and many of them will be at Shepparton.
I look forward to racing this weekend, I think the track will make for some very exciting racing. While I’m not exactly fit at the moment the titles are always a fun event, on and off the track."
Shane will be competing in the 40-44 cruiser class on Saturday and the 30+ masters class on Sunday. Also attending are fellow team members Scooby Guyers, Levi Collins, Chase Collins, Dane Pangello, Adam Carey, Jamie Bullows, and Aaron Rogers.

About BSX
BSX (Bicycle Supercross) is one-on-one sprint trails style racing on a backyard track built specifically to test a rider’s skills. The short straights, lofty jumps and tight corners are very intense under race conditions but also fun for competitors and create quite a lot of entertainment for spectators. The event provides a unique experience for the local Victorian riders, as well as the interstate and international visitors during an off day of the Track Attack series. The events primary function is to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation. In just five years the event has raised approximately $24,700 which has provided the hospital with new equipment. Funds have been raised through gate takings, raffles, auctions and donations.

11/11 bmxultra.com’s Team at the Knox Thunderdome
bmxultra.com press release
The bmxultra.com crew headed to Knox for the Thunderdome on the weekend.
Levi Collins was flying in AA Pro, although he was struggling a little with the flat start hill. He was off to a slow start in the final on Saturday night and just couldn’t find his way through the field finishing up with eighth. It was a dfferent story in Sunday’s final where he found his way to the podium, finishing up with a third.
Chase Collins is getting back into the AA Pro mix, he rode well on the weekend, but wasn’t able to make the cut for the final on either day.
Shane Jenkins qualified in fifth place for the 30 & Over open class main and was off to a reasonable start, and was mid field going into the second corner but that’s where he ran out of legs and finished up with eighth for the weekend.
Aaron Rogers was riding well in the 30 & Over open class but just missed the cut for the main.
The next stop for the team is at the Victorian State Championships at Shepparton in a weeks time.

The first half of the track is still ridable, so there will be plenty of opportunity to have a ride if we don’t get finished with the third straight.

08/11 Bodi Turner – King of Thunderdome
BMXMAD press release
Bodi Turner enjoyed a successful two days of racing at the Knox BMX ‘Thunderdome’ event over the weekend.
Bodi raced in the AA mens class winning the main on Saturday and coming 2nd on Sunday.
The AA race is always the highlight of the day and when no one can pick which of the 8 finalist will win makes for a very exciting final. Bodi had a great start being in 3rd position by the first berm and moving into 2nd by the second berm. He was super smooth all day in the third straight and was able to pass to be in top positon by the last berm. He was super excited to have won his first AA mens final. On Sunday the final was again hard to pick. Bodi was in 3rd position again coming into the first berm but was knocked and unclipped putting him back to 7th. He caught up to 5th by the 2nd berm and then was sitting in 3rd by the last berm. He chased the riders down the last straight to finish in 2nd place.
Bodi was also crowned ‘King of Thunderdome’ with a very impressive 31.228 seconds.

08/11 Supercross Australia’s Max Cairns at the Knox Thunderdome
Supercross BMX Australia press release
15 year old Max Cairns was flying in a large A Pro field at the Knox Thunderdome over the weekend.
On Saturday Max was killing it in his motos and posted the fastest time of any of the A Pro laps for the day in his semi. When the gate dropped in the main he was let down by his Shimano clip pedals and unclipped down the hill. He did manage to get going again pretty quickly and was making a move for third entering the last corner where he nearly collided with the rider in front, avoiding a big crash Max backed right off but managed to hold on to the fourth place to the line.
We put some Speedline clip pedals on the bike on Sunday morning and Max was all set for another big day. Max’s goal for the day, spurred on by Body Turner, was to race the clock and see what time he could get. He posted the five fastest laps for all A Pro riders in his five race laps, two of them under 33 seconds and his final time would have put him on the podium in the AA Pro field. Needless to say Max took the win in the A Pro final on board his Speedline equipped Supercross Blur.
Keep an eye on Max over the coming months, he’s only going to get faster as he surges towards the AA Pro class.

08/11 Morphine Industries’ BMC cleans up in Puerto Rico
Morphine Industries press release
There is nothing worse than someone hanging in Florida calling his boys up north in Ohio and rubbing it in that it is 90 degrees and they are training hard and hanging at the beach.
After Disney, deciding that the racing and weather in Florida are too good to leave yet, 19-27X Brandon McCoy made the jump to Puerto Rico to continue his run at the title.
Brandon hit the track Friday for practice and loosen-up after the flight and long 3 hour drive from San Juan airport. Rumor has it that he had to sit by someone’s grandma holding her pet goat for the three hour ride.
The race proved to be small with less than 30 motos. However, 19-27X had some comp and BMC made quick work of it taking the top spot in the main event on Saturday. Sunday was groundhog day as Brandon dominated from start to finish with another earned top spot at the line.
The Morphine Crew will be in full force headed to Tulsa in a few weeks. With Most riders in top NAG positions, it will be a great weekend of bumping and banging and we hope you are there to be part of the fun.

07/11 Photos: Knox Thunderdome and Old school show

For the first time in years we made the special effort to get down to Knox Thunderdome early to catch the old school show. There was an amazing array of bikes from BMX past and even Takashi from Kuwahara was there signing posters and t-shirts. We had a hard time finding time for photos on Saturday only taking a few, so Glenn Suridge took the camera on Sunday and got some more for us. Thanks Glenn. Click here to check them out.

04/11 bmxultra.com’s Team at Shepparton Shakedown
bmxultra.com press release
Some of the bmxultra.com team riders headed to the Shepparton Shakedown for the pre-title event. The weather was awesome and the track was smooth and fast.
Levi Collins was flying in AA Pro, and looked very comfortable pulling massive whips for the crowd over the pro section although his day ended early and in a way he’d rather forget. Just learn from Levi’s mistake kiddies, don’t miss staging.
Dane Pangallo was struggling a little with the Shepparton track in the A Pro class, but managed to pull it all together in time to make the semi where he finished second. When the gate dropped in the main he didn’t get the best of snaps and was left playing catch up. When the dust settled he finished a reputable fifth place.
Chase Collins had some tough competition in the 19-24 men but took the overall win.
Shane Jenkins took the second in the 40-44 mens class and looks to be getting back into form just in time for some big races.
Jamie Bullows in the USA
Jamie Bullows headed to the Disney Cup in Florida on the last leg of his tour of the USA. He came up against some tough competition on a very demanding track but still had a whole lot of fun and brought back a pile of stories to share with the team.
The next stop for the team is at the Knox Thunderdome this weekend.

04/11 Morphine Industries Disney Race Report
Morphine Industries press release
Approaching the end of year means one last party and what place better than Orlando, FL and the Disney Cup….and hey the Morphine Crew is always down with a party. We all headed to Orlando for a three day week end of fun, party, pranks and some racing. We knew it was going to be a weekend to remember when we rolled into the hotel to find the county jail complex next store.
With almost a complete rooster, we hit he track, rig and all for practice Friday morning. Track was dialed and the weather was epic and the crew was riding well.
AA PRO- Mike Kapes started Friday racing by lighting up the track with a great set of moto laps. That had him heading to the main for sure. However, a bump or two and he fell short but looked great to open the weekend.
Saturday and Sunday, Mike was all about ripping his motos. However, in the AA ranks there is no room for mistakes and lane choice matters. Mike found himself just shy both days of the main as he battled with the BMX best.
A PRO – Jason LaRev was all about getting back in the groove for the weekend. He pounded out some great moto laps to start the weekend but found himself short of the main on Friday.. Jason came back Saturday and Sunday showing some stylist hot laps moving forward out of motos. However, JRev found himself narrowly missing the main again on Saturday. Sunday was another story as JRev swagged his way to the main and round out the weekend with a 7th.
Vet Pro – Tim Dinger coming back after a blown knee was welcomed as he hit the track for the first big race back. Tim showed no loss in flash and his ability to woo the crowd as he rolled into the main event. Dinger found himself in the mix during the main but a bump and a grind found him throwing some style and rolling thru in 8th.
Saturday and Sunday found Dinger making his way through the ranks and landing himself in the main. Déjà vu was in play as he found himself repeating both days with a solid 7th at the white line. Dinger has vowed to keep training and be on point for some glory in Okie. We got to say thanks to Tim for dressing up the pit area with some hotness – his fiancé Kim. That girl can drink some sweet tea.
36-40X –Doran Bradshaw coming off a busted up rib cage found himself in the mix and feeling close to 100 percent. Racing 20” on Friday, Doran cruised through the class and planted his tire on the gate for the main. When the gate dropped, Doran immediately was in the mix and banging bars down the first straight with his bike to a solid 5th at the line.
Saturday, Doran switched over the cruiser and flowed with the same grace as he did on the 20”. Doran cruised to a 4th on his 20” bettering himself by a spot from Friday. Sunday he rolled back to the start on cruiser. Doran continued to better himself by taking 4th for the day. Great weekend for Doran as he gets back on point for killing it at the Grands.
28-35X – Charlie Hunt came into Disney to do work and continue his quest for top NAG spot. Friday proved to be a perfect day for “2 for 20”. Charlie rolled thru the ranks in booth Class and Cruiser and took the Uno spot on the podium.
On Saturday, Charlie continued his quest for slash marks. Charlie once again rolled thru cruiser to take the 1. On 20” Charlie battled but settled for the 3 at the line. Sunday was all of the same for Charlie with a solid 1 in cruiser making it a perfect cruiser weekend. Charlie took the 2 spot on 20” giving him a 1-2-3 for the weekend.
19-27X – Brandon “Fly Boy” McCoy started the weekend out on fire in the toughest class in BMX. He charged wire to wire in motos and worked his way thru 1/4s and semis to line up at the main. When the gate dropped Brandon, went wire-to-wire to dominate the main and take the top spot.
Saturday and Sunday started off looking like a repeat of Friday as Brandon rolled thru the class with blazing speed both days. Some banging and love tapping proved to get the better of him ,however, as he settled for a 7th and Saturday and an 8th on Sunday.
15X – Jared “Doc” Johnson hit the track smoking as well on Friday. Jared raged thru class and hit the main in cruise control. With an epic pass in the last turn Jared took over the top spot and didn’t look back.
Saturday, Jared was determined to join Charlie with the repeat. He rolled thru tough motos and battled to the end of the main to settle for s deuce at the line. Sunday was another great day for Jared as he battled his way to the main with dominance in his motos. He again battled in the main but having a bobble, Jared recovered to take the 5th place finish at the line.
14X –Noah Reeves looked great in practice and hit the first moto in the battle for first but was side hooked by a rider and took a bad crash over the second jump down the first straight. With most of his skin left on the track, Noah tried to come back for his second moto but was unable to hold on to his bars with a badly hurt left hand. Noah was forced to watch from the sidelines for the rest of the weekend trying to put the moves on Dinger’s fiancé….you dawg..
12X – Richie Dey started the weekend as a crowd pleaser boosting the first straight. Friday, Richie horsed his way to the main with a solid 5 in a stacked class. Saturday, Richie continued to ride and air it out weaving his way to the main taking a spot one better than Friday. Sunday Richie, pounded down the straights leaving his mark on the track and taking a solid 6th at the line.
The weekend gave us a solid peak in the 2012 season as a team with our riding, our brotherhood and ….ooh the pranking. My jaw still hurts from getting slapped with Big Black. And Brandon will never look at tooth brushing the same. Got to start getting this stuff on film for sure.
The Crew is strapping it on and head to Tulsa in a few weeks. Be sure to keep your eye on the Pink, Black and White. We will be sure to banging for the tops spots.

Supercross BMX Australia
Supercross BMX is a leader in BMX by design, innovation and manufacturing. The Supercross ENVY is the lightest production frame, full stop! However there is much more to the brand than the ENVY frame. There is also the alloy BLUR and the cromo BOLT LT, both of which have the same race winning geometry as the ENVY. Supercross BMX currently produces some of the most respected cromo/heat treated handlebars and forks in the business as well as hubs, stems, seats, posts, tires, cranks and a while lot more.
Supercross BMX Australia are the exclusive Australian distributor, keeping prices competitive and in many cases cheaper than the US. On top of that SX Australia put back into Australian BMX sponsoring some of the most talented riders in Australia on the Supercross Australia factory team and supporting the Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX Australia and bmxultra.com teams. Supercross BMX Australia is also a big supporter of the BSX charity event.
02/11 BMX Victoria Open State Championships
by bmxultra.com
The Victorian State Championships are coming up rapidly. This year it’s on November 19 & 20 at the Shepparton BMX Track (the same track that hosted the 2010 Australian Championships). The track has changed a little and is looking very smooth and fast at the moment.
Well the final instructions are out for competitors, and let us tell you now, if the Victorian State Championships are going to be run anything like the Pre titles a couple of weeks back riders will need to be on their toes and in the staging area early. Those guys ran the racing super-fast and a bunch of riders missed their calls.
As far as racing goes there is just what’s going on out on the track, it all looks very simple. There is a bit of a problem from a rider perspective. It’s a lot more complicated than it seems, since for the rider there is also staging. It’s a shame that riders won’t be able to watch any racing from inside the staging (veledrome) area. But a word of warning, don’t get caught out watching racing when you should be keeping an eye on when your own race should be coming up.
It would be handy for a simple flip card system to be implemented on the start hill (big enough for everyone to see), so everyone knows the current moto number that’s on the gate. It’s often difficult to work out what class is on the gate from the commentary alone, let alone the exact moto number. Where would they get one from? bmxultra.com will supply one for the event it if it is guaranteed to be used.
There was also a little confusion about the count back rule since there will be no run-off, just remember that this was printed on the official entry form.
"No run-offs will be run. In the case of riders with equal points, positions will be determined by a count-back."
I still find it a little open ended as it doesn’t say the count back is by points or times.
01/11 USA BMX National Schedule released for 2012
USABMX press release
Gilbert, Arizona – For the first time in the long history of BMX in the United States, there will be one national schedule. In June of 2011, the American Bicycle Association acquired the assets of the National Bicycle League and formed USA BMX. With the formation of USA BMX comes the advent of one national schedule, one sanctioning body, and in the end … one national champion.
The USA BMX schedule kicks off in January in Reno, Nevada and will conclude over Thanksgiving weekend with the Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With 27 stops in between the season opener and the Grand National, including the Olympic Games in London; 2012 promises to be an exciting year for the action-packed sport of BMX racing.
One of the highlights of the 2012 USA BMX schedule is the United States Olympic Trials; which will be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California over Father’s Day weekend (June 15-17). This stop will feature the US Open Nationals in conjunction with Olympic qualifying for the Team USA. Eight of the country’s fastest elite racers will be vying for one of 3 spots on Team USA, with the winner earning instant qualification to compete in London for the 2012 Olympic Games. March 30-April 1 will also be an amazing weekend in Chula Vista with the combination of the USA Cycling BMX National Championships, UCI BMX Supercross and the USA BMX So Cal Nationals. New for 2012 are the Eastern and Western Divisional finals which will take place in Louisville and in Reno simultaneously on Labor Day weekend. Under the new USA BMX structure these events will be 3 day national weekends with national event days Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Rockford, Illinois, will once again play host to the Midwest Nationals. Last year the event was awarded the Best Single Amateur Sports Event by Sports Travel Magazine and this year will celebrate its 25th year. In addition to many of the familiar stops on the National Schedule, USA BMX will also be visiting several new locations. With a balanced schedule from coast-to-coast, riders and fans alike will be sure to have a stop (or two) near them.
About USA BMX
